This is a well manicured trail. There’s paved trails and I believe two bird blinds. I was only able to see one, and when I got there so the birds flew. It’s relaxing and in the middle of the trail you’ll find a creek. The entrance has a bulletin board with monthly activities the city is hosting. The bathrooms are well taken care of.
We were looking for a place to walk our dog Nugget and decided to try this park.. Apparantly it used to have homes here but because it is a flood plain they were removed and made into a nature preserve. There are still remnants of the old roads but nothing else. Several trails in the park and a couple of bird blinds. We took the trail the circles around the park for a nice long walk.
Park is super clean and great natural area within greater San Antonio limits. Perfect for birding, hiking, biking, and running. Main trail loop is less than 2 miles and flat as a pancake. Park does an outstanding job with education and parks ecosystem. Park is a wonderful place for a family walk, getting out of the city, and enjoying the outdoors together. I hope you enjoy, Crescent Bend Natural Area as much as we did as a family. Happy exploring.
Surprising little park in Cibilo. Was once a community wiped away in the 100 yr flood and is now maintained by the parks department. No more houses and nature has taken over. A few nice spots for bbq. Easy trails. Great spot for birding. Almost 4 stars.
Lovely nature park. Bathrooms were clean! Nice short loop (1.3 miles I think?), shady, lots of trees, and beautiful. We saw tons of birds and deer, which just stood next to the trail and watched us. The decomposed granite trail is perfect for strollers.
The family and I went out to catch fireflies. There is a gravel walkway to take a nice stroll. Along the path are markers of the nature in the area. Parking is close by or close to the bridge. Visitors can also fish near the bridge as well. There are also water fountains for humans and pets next to the public restrooms. There are benches along the path and trash cans. Also, this place is great for capturing photos of nature.
The area is a flood zone so be careful when it rains. Check out the Schertz Parks and Rec website for more information.
Best fishing. Spot for miles around. Always catching something here on the small frog or tiny crankbait. Pro tip is to utilize the last parking spot to the back of the park for the best spots you can walk too
I haven't been there in some time but I used to live on land that would become part of this park after the flood came and washed everyone away. The park is at the southern tip of the Blackland Prairie, a long, thin strip of unique geography that runs up through Northeastern Texas. Bordered on the North by the Edwards Plateau and Hill Country, and on the South by Post Oak Savannah, the flora and fauna of the prairie are quite different than what you'll find even just a few miles away in the surrounding area. Lots of birds and other wildlife. In the summer watch out for Rattlesnake, Coral Snake, and Cottonmouth down near the creek. Ants as well, and speaking of stinging things, Bull Nettle. I can't tell you how many times as a kid I got too close to Bull Nettle and regretted it! Some years there was tons of the stuff growing all over, often getting five feet tall and as big around. Seriously, if you see a bright green weed with big hairy leaves and big, white, mallow-like flowers keep your distance! The lightest touch will leave you feeling like you've been attacked by fire ants and the pain and swelling can last for hours.
